Observer-Dispatch, January 31, 2014: The Herkimer County Historical Society has several new book titles in its gift shop, including Killing in the Kuyahoora Valley by Lawrence P. Gooley. The book is an account of the 1914 Gianini murder case, when 16-year-old Jean Gianini was charged with the murder of his school teacher Lida Beecher in the village of Poland.
